ASTWR Ep. 21: JAH-topilot

LISTEN SUBSCRIBE to ASTWR on iTunes and Sound Cloud.

ASTWR Ep.21: JAH-topilot - is a conversation with Mama T (a.k.a. Trishia Gonsalves) who is an amazing ital-chef and singer of Psalms. We chat about food as medicine, the body-mind-soul connection, cleansing protocols (for parasites!), the importance of sound and the words your speak, the new-activism of solution-based thinking, and of course.... being a loving servant of JAH!

For more than 20 years, Mama T has been a part of growing and healing communities with her voice, her love and her cooking! From San Diego to Jamaica, and of course her heart and home––Hawaiʻi––she shares her knowledge freely and is committed to helping others find their joy and their health. A long time advocate of using sustainable practices to grow food organically and to use food as medicine, one of her mottos is, "Ancient ways in modern days."

Mama T was brought to Hawaii from San Diego on a singing tour, quickly fell in love with the islands, the people (especially Sam her husband who is a drummer), and has made the islands her home. She is currently the lead chef at Umeke Market, in downtown Honolulu, and often teaches Ital-cooking and collaborates with community and youth organizations to help the next generation find their path. She is also the assistant director, outfitter and nutritional wellness lead (Hawaiʻi Program) for InterTribal Youth and Native Like Water. Mama T also has a background in early child development and directed inner-city youth programs in San Francisco and San Diego.

Resources for topics discussed on the show:

  • Gerson Institute: The Gerson Institute is a non-profit organization in San Diego, California, dedicated to providing education and training in the Gerson Therapy, an alternative, non-toxic treatment for cancer and other chronic degenerative diseases.
  • Dr. Jennifer Daniels: Dr. Daniels entered The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and at the same time, completed her studies at The Wharton School. She received her Medical Degree (MD) and her MBA concurrently at the end of 4 years. While in medical school, she was concerned that patients were not improving with the therapies she was being taught.Dr. Daniels now lives outside the United States and is dedicated to investigating and communicating to citizens an understanding of the system called ‘health care’ that harms so many. Her goal is to prevent as many recurring murders as possible through education.
  • Umeke Market: Visit this awesome plant-based restaurant in downtown Honolulu!

Mahalo Piha––deep gratitude––to Hanau Creative for producing the show, to Kupa'aina for letting me use a piece of the awesome song Simple Island People in the intro of each show, and to my family and close friends who have continued to support me on my creative journey through life.
